Forest Staircase in Hummel Park, Omaha, Nebraska
I took this picture in 2007 as my now husband and I were hiking through Hummel Park in Omaha, Nebraska. There is a sort of sketchy history associated with Hummel Park, and if you are an Omahan, you probably have heard some rumor about it at some time, or perhaps have even researched it.
One of the rumors is that there was a part of the forrest that was haunted and used by particular groups of people for ceremonies, etc, and we laughed at the rumors as we hiked out that direction. As we turned the corner and walked over a hill, I was overtaken with the absolutely stunning rock staircase! This beautiful treasure was hidden from so many who didn't like that part of town, or the Park due to its reputation. I walked halfway down, turned around, held my camera down toward the ground and snapped this picture with no filter, no adjustments, just beauty! Enjoy!
